IIIn July of 2004, singer-songwriter Kev Rowe released an all-acoustic first solo CD, Brown Book. Brown Book would be the culmination of many years of experience for Rowe as he has long been a fixture in the touring band scene. As former lead guitarist for roots rock band Big Leg Emma, and lead singer/songwriter for his first touring band 5 Cubic Feet, he has had much success. Brown Book would be highly praised for its artistry, thought-provoking, honest, and intimate lyrics and a sense of realness missing from most modern music. On Brown Book Rowe sings, displays his intricate guitar parts and compositional techniques, plays piano, and presents lyrics from the heart. Brown Book would start to accumulate songwriting contest awards (Godfather Suite, Honor Award in The Great American Song Contest, and UK Songwriting Contest). And despite the awards, touring success, and praise, Kev's greatest desire has always been to reach beyond the superficial and move people to something very meaningful, deep and unique, a feeling he felt very early on in life
Kev Rowe picked up his first electric guitar at the age of sixteen and was immediately fascinated with it. As a self-taught guitarist, he developed a unique approach to composing complex instrumental pieces, and drawing on many styles as a writer and guitarist. Playing music was a refreshing new spiritual journey for Kev, one he knew very early he would commit his life to.
Throughout his extensive music career with well known roots rock band, Big Leg Emma and 5 Cubic Feet, Rowe has toured nationally playing hundreds of shows and festivals. In the western NY original music community he is the driving force behind J.A.M.town Records, a community based Indy label. Also, he has released 4 well-received cds (two with 5 Cubic Feet, Dementions in 2000, Sweet N Sassy in 2002, 1 with Big Leg Emma in 2004, The Color of Wind, and the highly praised solo cd, Brown Book in 2004.).
10 years later, having lived, loved, and learned music as a band member and solo artist; Kev has recognized that his solo career is where he will focus his energy, time and creativity. The response to his solo acoustic performances over the past years has confirmed his decision. His skillful slide playing, intricate melodic counterpoint, and warm singing voice all contribute to him being the complete package as a singer/songwriter. A Kev Rowe show has a wide range of material spanning from slow, intimate songs, instrumentals, upbeat, inspirational songs, funny anecdotes, and some first class guitar playing, singing, and craftsmanship.
