The Real Book SIXTH Edition
Available for decades as an under-the-counter illegal (as in, copyright violating) book, the Fifth Edition Real Book was nonetheless a mainstay for jazz players. When it came out in the 1970s, there was no legal substitute. So, despite notorious mistakes and the clandestine stigma, it has been a pervasive presence in jazz circles. Skulk no more: Hal Leonard has introduced a fully legal, error-free version that duplicates the naughty one almost page for page. Hundreds of jazz classics and standards--all tunes you need for gigs, jam sessions, and jazz instruction. The SIXTH EDITION Real Book is only $25--under the street price those out-of-the-trunk guys were charging for the one with mistakes! We particularly like the fact that HLP has nicked everything about the look and layout of the old book. Turn about is fair play, we agree.
Available in C, Bb, and Eb, as well as Bass Clef. Volume 2 C ediition is now available as well!

Hal Leonard has also released the third and fourth volumes of the Orchestral Musician's CD-ROM LIBRARY. Each volume contains .pdf files of the actual orchestral parts to dozens of major works. Not just excerpts--the entire clarinet or flute part, for example.
Volume III features the parts for 61 orchestral standards by Debussy, Mahler, Bizet, Grieg, and more. Volume IV is heavy on Tchaikovsky. The first two volumes contain (collectively) over 160 different works from Beethoven on. (Earlier pieces only sparingly used brass, percussion, and even clarinet. It wasn't till the early 1800s that orchestra instrumentation as we know it was common.) Collect the entire set and form your own band!
